Do you write down what you eat in a food log? If you think that you are eating right, but are still not seeing weight loss results, it would be in your best interest to keep a food log! You will be surprised to see what you can learn about yourself, and the things you eat just by writing them down.
Go get a notebook that you can take with you everywhere! I have a composition notebook that I use to track everything that I eat, even if it is just a bite. I keep it with me all the time. It is big enough to write in, but small enough that it is not bothersome to carry it around.
I want to challenge you to track your food. Remember, if you don’t write it down, you are only lying to yourself!
To start out, just write what it is that you are eating. If you are interested in counting calories, you can start tracking that after you get used to writing your foods. Baby steps!
Another thing that you can do with your food log, is track how your body reacts to different meals. I have IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) although I am not convinced! Since I have been keeping a log of my foods, and tracking any reactions, I have found that I have a strong reaction, and actually get ill when I have any wheat product. This will help me to take my log with me the next time I go to the doctor.
Another thing that you can track in your food log is your workouts. I write mine right into my day. Fo example:
Breakfast: Eggs, Banana
Snack: Almonds, Green Pepper
Workout – DB Squats, Chest Press, etc.
Then you will view your workout as a part of your day, just like a meal would be. This will also help you to track the progress that you are making in your workouts.
Don’t forget to also track when you do intervals, and what you did. You can also include a goal for yourself for the next time you do intervals. For example:
Intervals – Treadmill for 13 minutes (60 seconds at 3.5; 45 seconds at 8.0) Goals: next time I would like to increase the time that I run at 8.0, and decrease the time the I run at 3.5.
You will love keeping a log! Try it out and see if it helps you! You can also get creative and keep a video log, or take pictures of what you are eating.
Keeping a log will make you more aware of what you are eating, and I know you will see great results if you start doing this.
