I think that it is safe to say that most of us love to enjoy a nice hot coffee on the way to work. Can you think of a better way to start your day? We need that extra pick me up most work days!
Did you ever think that the drink that you are enjoying on your daily commute is actually making you fatter? Come on, it’s just coffee, right?
Here is some information that might shock you!
Let’s start with America’s favorite, Starbucks! It must be the favorite, since there is one on every corner!
Let’s say you order a Peppermint Mocha Twist Frappuchino. That can be too bad, right? I will let you decide:
360 calories, 50 of those are fat calories; 5 grams of fat and 65 grams of sugar.

Now, one of my favorites, Panera Bread. Let’s say at Panera we get just a plain old Caffe’ Mocha. That can’t be bad! Hmmm…
380 calories; 17 grams of fat, 11 grams of saturated fat; 41 grams of sugar

I know, this is crazy! Who would have thought that a drink could hold so much fat in one cup! Let’s do just two more.
Dunkin Donuts! Let’s say you go in and your friends are getting a donut. You think to yourself, I will be good and just get a drink! Well, here is what you are drinking there:
Mocha Spice Latte’: 330 calories, 80 of those are from fat; 9 grams of fat, and 48 grams of sugar.

Ok, let’s try Caribou Coffee. One of these has got to be good, right? Well, go with a Mocha.
380 calories, 160 of those are from fat; 17 grams of fat; 41 grams of sugar.

Ok, that’s enough!! I think that we can all agree that just one drink in the morning is adding to our body fat! Our coffee is making us fatter! So what in the world can we drink? If you have to have coffee, drink it black! Slowly try to wean yourself off, you will be better off in the long run.
You could also start drinking hot tea.

So, the next time you pull up to the Starbucks drive through, just remember what you are doing to your body! Don’t do it! Invest in some travel mugs, and some tea bags, and bring it with you!
