Are You Starting A Diet?

starting_a_dietStarting a diet can be so hard, because you never know where to start.  Should you throw all of your food away and start over?  Should you just buy the diet food and keep the other food around?  Maybe just try it for a few days to see how it works?  So many options, with not much direction can make you fail before you ever being your new diet.  If you are starting a diet, let me help you get started in a way that will set you up to reach your goals!

First, you and another person, hopefully someone that can help hold you accountable, need to go through all of the food in your home.  Anything that is not on your diet plan should leave your home.  If there is anything that could be donated to a local shelter or food pantry, donate it!  Otherwise, throw it out!  If it stays, it will only be there to tempt you to go off course.  That is not a good thing!

Second, after you have NO food left in your home, you and your accountability partner should go to the store.  Time to fill your cart full of healthy, supportive foods that will help your body get the energy it needs, while working towards your goals.  Make sure you have your diet plan with you while you are shopping so you know what foods are approved and what foods to steer clear of.

Also, if your diet plan has recipes, plan out your week of meals from the recipes, and buy foods that go with the recipes.  Planning ahead is a huge part to staying on a diet!  When there is no planning involved, that is when we tend to make choices that will not help us in the long run.

Now that you have removed all foods that will sabotage you from your home, and replaced them with foods that will only help you succeed, you are ready to start your diet!

My next tip would be to have a notebook that you can use for a food log.  Everything that you eat needs to go in that book.  And remember, it is your food log, your diet, your body….if you don’t write it down, who are you lying to?  You got it, you!

Hopefully you now feel ready to take on this diet, and reach your goals!  Just remember, to see even greater results, top a great diet with a full body workout plan.  Some of the workout plans can even be done in your own home, so why not!
