When it comes to protein shakes, I am not very creative. I will find one thing that works, and go with that until I can’t stand it anymore. That is why I could on people like John Berardi from Precision Nutrition to help me out. John is on a “quest for the perfect shake”, and I hope he finds it

Check out what John had to say on one of his latest newsletters.

My Quest For The Perfect Shake

by John M Berardi, April 28th, 2010.

My good friends know that I’ve spent years on a very specific nutrition quest. The quest for the perfect protein shake.

Now, to those of you who don’t drink protein shakes, that probably seems pretty strange. And that’s OK, I totally understand. There’s probably a bunch of stuff you do that I’d consider strange.

However, I’ve been working out and using protein supplements for the last 20 years of my life. During these 20 years, I’ve probably averaged 1 protein shake a day. (Heck, that might even be a conservative estimate).

So, at minimum, according to my rudimentary math, I’ve consumed over 7,300 protein shakes in my life. Is it any surprise I’ve made it my mission to find the perfect, tastiest shake?

My Secret Weapon

During this quest of mine, I’ve destroyed many a blender. Indeed, because I like my shakes thick (often so thick I can eat them with a spoon), I’ve blown through, on average, one blender a year.

In fact, I even have a small blender graveyard where I’ve retired some of my favorites. Just in case I’m feeling sentimental and want to pull one out for old time’s sake

Now, for the last 2 years, my blender of choice has been the Magic Bullet. It’s got several advantages: inexpensive, small, portable, and very easy to clean. It’s pretty powerful too.

However, on the disadvantage side, I’ve had to replace my Bullet every 6 months or so. It just wears out too quickly. In addition, it doesn’t let me make large shakes, for when I’m wanting to pack in the calories, or for when I want to share with friends.

That’s why I recently decided to invest in a new device: the highly acclaimed Vita-Mix.

Now, I use the word “invest” instead of “buy” because, when you pick up a Vita-Mix, you have to look at it as an investment in your future of blending and food processing. Mostly because the thing costs a whopping $400 – $600 (depending on the model you choose). And that’s around 10x the price of a Magic Bullet.

However, there are a good reasons for the big price tag. For starters, the Vita-Mix is the most powerful blender around.

Ever seen those “Will It Blend” videos where, using a BlendTec blender, they decimate things like an NFL regulation football, an IPad, a hand gun, and, one of my favorites, a dozen glow sticks?

Well, the Vita-Mix is as powerful as the BlendTec (although I think they’d both be a great choice) and is typically rated higher in terms of the non-decimation variables such as ease of use, quietness, and lifespan.

Which brings up my second reason for choosing the Vita-Mix, the warranty. With the Vita-Mix I got a pretty comprehensive lifetime warranty. So I feel pretty good knowing that I won’t have to replace this blender every 6 months.

After all, buying a $50 blender every 6 months means I’ll spend $1000 on new blenders over the course of the next 10 years. Why not just spend about $500 bucks now and get a superior blender that’ll last?

The Perfect Shake = Precision Nutrition Ice Cream

Ok, so I bought an expensive, powerful blender that should last me a long, long time. That’s nice and everything. But how does it perform?

Well, I have to admit, it’s opened up a whole new world of possibilities for my protein shakes!

In fact, using the Vita-Mix, my quest for the perfect protein shake has ended. And it’s ended with something we call PN Ice Cream.

Call me crazy, but PN Ice Cream tastes like a legitimate DQ Blizzard. At just a fraction of the sugar, saturated fat, and calories. In fact, I’m so pumped about my new creations, I’d like to share a few of them with you today.

PN Peanut Butter Chocolate Ice Cream (AT)

This first recipe, our Peanut Butter Chocolate Ice Cream, is considered an AT (or any-time) snack, for those of you who are using the nutrient timing rules in Gourmet Nutrition. To make this delicious snack, you’ll want to lay out the following:

Your Vita-Mix with 4 Cups of Ice

Muscle Milk – Peanut Butter Chocolate Flavor – 2 scoops

Natural Peanut Butter – Chunky – 2 tablespoons

Cacao Nibs – Organic – 1 tablespoon

Unsweetened Almond Milk – Chocolate – 1 cup

Next, you’ll add all your ingredients together, placing the Vita-Mix tamper through the hole in the cover.

Next, you’ll turn your Vita-Mix on low and slowly ramp the speed up from 1 – 10. Once you get to 10, you’ll flip the switch to high and begin “tamping” your mixture. Now, I’ll warn you, the blender will be working hard; and so will you. But keep tamping for about 30 seconds while all the ingredients are pulverized and mixed.

After 30 seconds, shut your blender off (blending for longer may start melting your ice cream). Then, remove your tamper. Remove the lid. And with a ice cream scooper or tablespoon, serve.

This recipe makes 2 servings, 302 kcal each.

PN Vanilla Blueberry Ice Cream (PW)

This second recipe, our Vanilla Blueberry Ice Cream, is considered a PW (or post-workout) snack, for those of you who are using the nutrient timing rules in Gourmet Nutrition. To make this delicious snack, you’ll want to lay out the following:

Your Vita-Mix

Muscle Milk – Vanilla – 2 scoops

Frozen Blueberries – 4 cups

Unsweetened Almond Milk – Vanilla – 1 cup

Next, just like above, you’ll add all your ingredients together, placing the Vita-Mix tamper through the hole in the cover.

After that, you’ll turn your Vita-Mix on low and slowly ramp the speed up from 1 – 10. Once you get to 10, you’ll flip the switch to high and begin “tamping” your mixture. Keep tamping for about 30 seconds while all the ingredients are pulverized and mixed.

Remove your tamper. Remove the lid. With a ice cream scooper or tablespoon, serve. Makes 2 servings, 330 kcal each.

Nutrition Facts

So, earlier I compared my PN Ice Cream to a DQ Blizzard. And, based on the texture, taste, and consistency, I think it’s a pretty fair comparison. However, how do the calories stack up? Well, let’s look at a comparison for an equivalent serving size:

DQ Blizzard (Peanut Butter Cup)

1350 kcal

52 g fat (28g saturated)

204 g carbohydrate (1g fiber, 150g sugar)

24 g protein

PN Peanut Butter Chocolate Ice Cream (AT)

604 kcal

37 g fat (11g saturated)

28 g carbohydrate (10g fiber, 6g sugar)

37 g protein

PN Vanilla Blueberry Ice Cream (PW)

660 kcal

16  g fat (6 g saturated)

96 g carbohydrate (33g fiber, 48g sugar)

37  g protein

As you can see, the PN ice cream mixes are 1/2 the calories of a DQ Blizzard and contain less saturated fat, fewer carbohydrates, more fiber, less sugar, and more protein. Plus, there’s no dairy. In addition, if you follow the recommended serving size (which is 2 servings per ice cream recipe above), you’d be getting 1/4 the calories of a large DQ Blizzard.

In the end, hopefully you can now see why I’m so excited about my Vita-Mix “investment” and my PN Ice Cream creations. They’re delicious. They’re nutritious. And they won’t give you the diabetes.

So give ‘em a try. And if you’d like to contribute a few recipes of your own, feel free to post them here.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
As always, thank you John for your wonderful recipes!  I am so glad that we have you to rely on to come up with new things.  By the way, I think I will have to invest in the Vita Mix!  I am so sick of getting mad at my blender in the morning
I don’t know about you, but Valentine’s Day means many things to people, but I would say most would say flowers and chocolate.  I find resisting chocolate to be very challenging.  I don’t know what it is, but it seems to just pull me in.
So why do we crave chocolate or sugar?  I was just thinking of this today!  After coming away from Valentines Day, that just so happens to be my daughters birthday, so that means birthday cake too, I just keep thinking how can sugar have such a hold on me?
Well, my friend and coach Holly Rigsby must have been thinking the same thing.  Today when I saw her e-mail come through I just had to smile!  It was all about craving sugar, and why we crave it.
Check out her blog post from today so you can see what I mean:
Do You Crave Sugar?  by Holly Rigsby, author of Fit Yummy Mummy
Top 2 Reasons you Crave Sugar
1. Sugar Cravings exist out of Habit
You must have satisfied this craving in the past – following a meal with something sweet. Then suddenly it becomes a part of your mindset. After every meal must come dessert. The good news is ALL Habits are learned, so this habit cam be unlearned as the result of practice and repetition.
2. Sugar Cravings exist because you EAT Sugar
What?   If you eat simple, refined carbohydrates or high sugar foods everyday, your body will remain in “crave” mode.
Sugar takes your Hormones for a Roller Coaster Ride. Take a peek at what is happening inside your body when you choose to foods high in refined sugar.
Eating simple sugars causes a spike in your blood sugar for these foods are quickly absorbed into the blood stream.
This in turn gives you the temporary sugar high ~  it feels good…however, your body does not like this imbalance and a series of hormonal responses take place.
** Insulin Increases
Your body produces an increased amount of the Insulin – a storage hormone. Insulin’s job is to remove excess sugar from the bloodstream and store it in the muscles and in the liver.
** Glucagon Goes Away
In order to facilitate this rush of insulin, glucagon – a release hormone…responsible for releasing More Fat…good right? NOT when you eat too much sugar. This helpful fat loss hormone is diminished.
What does this hormone game mean to you?
High insulin levels increase fat formation and storage, while inhibiting fat breakdown to be used as energy.
Each time you consume simple sugars and refined carbohydrates, you are doing nothing more than locking in fat.
But wait…the ride doesn’t stop there…
About 30-45 minutes after the sugar rush, you wind up with residual low blood sugar….your blood sugar levels hit bottom. You Crash!
This rapid drop in blood glucose levels starves the brain of its primary fuel and you experience symptoms such as:
* Energy slumps during the day – especially in the afternoon
* Cravings for sweets
* Cravings for stimulants (tea, coffee, cigarettes)
* Irritability of mood swings
* Poor concentration or fuzzy thinking
Your body reacts once again for at this point your energy level bottoms out, you have trouble thinking clearly and you end up with cravings.
You will inevitably crave sweets as these foods will raise blood sugar the quickest, getting you out of your slump.   The blood sugar High/Low cycle repeats – again and again and again…just like getting on an endless hormonal roller coaster ride.
This is what is happening inside your body every time you eat sweets, simple sugars, refined carbohydrates.    The only logical way to stop the cravings…..is to get off the ride!
You said it Holly!  If we keep giving our bodies the sugar and refined carbohydrates, we are staying on the roller coaster that we hate so much! We are causing our bodies to store fat.  So the best cure to beat the sugar cravings, is fight them, and do not give your body sugars!
Trust me, this is hard to do, but it is well worth it!
Check out the latest post from my friend and coach Holly Rigsby:
Mornings can be one of  the most chaotic times of a Busy Mom’s day ~ especially Back To School  Mornings!
There is a way to make your mornings go smoother – for you and your family.
Routine
Yes, the power of establishing a morning routine works like magic!
Routines …..
- are comfortable and familiar
- set expectations and boundaries
- are reassuring,  you know what to expect therefore you are more at ease!
Consider the opposite ~ A chaotic morning! A morning that has no predictability or flow. This type of morning only promotes feelings of stress, worry, anger, frustration and more.
Why would anyone want to start their morning off like this?
Did you know…..
The way you and your children spend the first 90 minutes of your day will determine the mood, momentum and success of the rest of the day?
Time to establish a Morning Routine!
And I am not talking about getting into some complex, overwhelming daunting task. Just a simple morning schedule that will give you and your children a positive boost and jump start for a fabulous day. You AND your children deserve this!
How to Create a Morning Routine
- Keep a Time Log
You 1st must know how much time you have and how long your morning tasks take. If you do not have this information it will be impossible to create a successful routine. Jot down all the details from the moment you wake up, your kids wake up, breakfast prep, eating, getting dressed, time wasters, etc.
- Plan Ahead
Yes the “P” word. Funny how this keeps popping up ; )
This entails getting things ready the night before, from laying out clothes, important papers, food prep and even Telling Your Children what to expect. Remind them before they go to bed and remind them right when they wake up. Over estimate tasks that are known for having hiccups this way you build in extra time.
- Be Realistic
Allow for some flexibility and What If’s
No matter how beautiful your morning routine, life happens. There will always be something – however because you and your children have started the day off right you are all more capable of handling any type of AM speed bump without a melt down.
Plus when you work some extra cushion into your morning routine, this becomes a possible incentive for your children. For example, if breakfast has been a bit too drawn out – allow for this but then offer the reward of getting to Play before leaving for school IF and Only If breakfast is finished.
Routine Planning Tip: You can make creating a routine more manageable and fun by getting your children involved. Anytime they take ownership in helping to create something, they will take it to heart when it must be implemented.
Now what do you do?
~ Share this routine with your family
~ Explain the benefits
~ Post it where everyone can see it
~ Refer to it often
~ Stick To IT! Consistency is a MUST
If you want this to work and work like magic you must follow through day in and day out.
Tyler’s Morning Routine
Here is an example of Tyler’s AM routine to give you an idea of how simple a routine can be.
Wake up: 7:40
~Morning Motivators*
Breakfast: 7:50
Get ready for school: 8:20
(brush teeth, get dressed, fix hair, shoes and backpack)
Drive to school 8:45
Simple and to the point. On Friday’s for a treat Tyler gets to watch cartoons while he eats breakfast. Just another way to encourage sticking to the routine.
*Top 5 Morning Motivators
Ensure your mornings are off to a positive start!
1. Smile
2. Move
3. Play upbeat music
4. Talk
5. Eat an energizing breakfast TOGETHER
You must admit that these sound a little too obvious – but let’s be honest – how often are you engaging in these?
The energy from a smile goes unspoken. When YOU wake up – try it…smile! When you wake your children up – try it…smile at them, get them to smile with you! Follow up with a good morning hug.
Move simply means Move – instead of just crawling out of bed, jumping in the shower and filling your body with coffee- take 5 and do some basic stretches or a 15 minute Fit Yummy Mummy workout. Even better ….get your children involved! It can be as simple as reaching for the ceiling and bending over to reach for the floor. Be sure everyone drinks a Big glass of water too! Being hydrated ensures a boost of energy!
Music has the ability to calm, soothe and entertain the soul. Play something soothing like Enya or go all out with something fun and upbeat like Dan Zanes – Tyler’s favorite!
How would you describe the conversations you have in the morning? Why not fill your child up – and yourself for that matter- with positive and encouraging words.
You all know this one – Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Add to this important ritual by actually sitting down and eating breakfast with your children at the table. Not only do you set a powerfully positive message – this also allows for the exchange of more talk and smiles.
We all could use tips to help us create healthy eating habits.  We all have a lot to learn when it comes to eating healthy!
About a year ago I learned the best tip to help me create healthy eating habits!  It seemed so simple.  Why did I not think of this before now?
Here it is ….. prep your food for the week before the week begins! Wow! Something so easy will help to make sure that you are making supportive food choices, and better yet, creating healthy eating habits that you will take with you for the rest of your life.
This is how easy it is.  When you get home from the store, instead of putting your produce away, leave it on the counter.  Get out the cutting board, the knife and the ziplock bags and you are ready to go.
Wash all of the produce and prep away!  Throw it is bags and stick it in your refrigerator.  Now, you have healthy food ready for snacks!  Plus everything is cut and ready for any recipes that may call for the produce too, so it will cut down on your prep time for dinner.
Here is a video of me prepping food for the week.
You can also do this with nuts or anything else that you would like to measure out and have ready for the week.
I hope this helps you create healthy eating habits for your lifestyle too!
Oh know, I said a look into your grocery cart, but in reality, this is MY grocery cart!  For my last post, I showed you a video of everything that I got at the grocery store.  The purpose of this video was to have Holly Rigsby, creator of Fit Yummy Mummy, review everything that I got.  Well, she did it!  Check out what she had to say.
It’s a Fact….
90% of Americans’ household food budget is spent on processed foods, the majority of which are filled with additives and stripped of nutrients. Filling our bodies with these foods leaves us feeling drained, suffering from headaches and most of all frustrated from a lack of results.
Good news is that you are HERE and as you begin to implement the Fit Yummy Mummy strategies you are making positive changes.
But let’s be honest – doing so can sometimes be so difficult.
Why?
1.	We are busy!!!  it is way to easy to grab what is perceived as “convenience foods”
2.	We are overwhelmed!!!
There is SO much information on what to eat — what to avoid – and many of the messages conflict…then you walk into the grocery and it is so hard to assess the choices and make a sound decision.
The food industry knows this and takes advantage of women in this position by creating a variety of “easy Foods” that go out of their way to TELL you just how Healthy they are for you. In reality — they are not. You are wasting your money, your time and your valuable energy on crap.
So, how much easier would it be to reach your fat loss goals if you knew just what to buy at the grocery store and had a kitchen stocked with just what you needed?
Alison Liddic, who was the third place winner of the Summer Transformation Challenge and is founder of the blog www.WaysToBurnFatQuickly.com, had mentioned on our coaching call together that she wished I could just go to the store with her. While I would love to make this happen, the next best thing was to ask her to video her grocery store purchases and I would do a Fit Yummy Mummy critique.
Well here is Alison’s Video and what follows is my review of her purchases.
Alison!
Great video and here are my thoughts – I basically went straight through the video.
~~~~~~~~

- Salad Greens – Picked up 3 bags so she has enough for the week! Great for salads and to add to wraps. Full of fiber and nutrients!

- String cheese is a quick and easy protein source

- Celery — great veggie to have on hand! It is Cheap and Versatile. Full of water and fiber – satisfies a crunch when you have cravings. Line it with PB, dip in Hummus or cottage cheese — makes for a simple and complete snack. Chop and add to salads, sauté with onions to give new flavors to your chicken.

- Dairy

Milk and Yogurt — also good protein sources.
Just watch the milk intake. One reason – for intolerance’s and secondly for drinking your calories. It is super easy to go over your calories for the day when they come in the form of a drink. Just watch the portion size.

- Bag of Apples — affordable way to keep fresh fruit on hand. LOVE that you made homemade applesauce — way to make the most of the produce you buy.

- Bag of Onions — great to have on hand as a flavor enhancer Combine chopped onions, tomatoes, avocado and jalapeno for an all-in-one guacamole salsa dip. To perk up plain rice, sprinkle some green onions, also known as scallions, and sesame seeds on top. Sautéed chopped onions are so versatile that they can be added to most any vegetable dish. Enjoy a classic Italian salad-sliced onions, tomatoes and mozzarella cheese drizzled with olive oil.

- Coffee…any consideration in switching to Green Tea – loaded with antioxidants!

- Horizon Yogurts — easy and healthy kids friendly snack – one of Tyler’s Favorites!

- Juicy Juice — when you say for lunch — everyday? I would limit this- even though juice has loads of vitamins, still drinking sugar — if this is the 8 ounce box she is taking in 4 teaspoons of sugar with each one she drinks.

- Oh no — so she also gets Fruit snacks in her lunch…increase the amount of sugar she is eating!

Not sure how much that brand has — BUT — name brand Brachs has 21 grams of sugar –so now she is taking in 8 teaspoons of sugar at lunch. Take a look at the ingredients list too… what is in this stuff?

- Pancakes -- yes, choosing a brand that is not full of refined carbs (acts just like sugar…not to mention if there is syrup added on top of this?) and has fiber and some proteins from quality grains. Be sure to read the ingredients.

Pancake/Waffle Toppings? What do you use? I have convinced Tyler our house does not have syrup. If he wants something, I will cook frozen berries in a sauce pan, add jelly and/or PB. Just like with Salad Dressings – we need to account for what the topping on these items adds to our nutrition plan.

- Oh yes and the Peanut Butter — make sure to choose Natural (and he should know this!) Look at the ingredients list – notice sugar and hydrogenated/partially hydrogenated oils — this is code for “Trans Fats” — which many Mom/Kid friendly name brands push. Watch out for those!

- Sugar Cones….I know I do not need to point this out…hoping these are once in a while for you guys. How often do the kids get these? Know that this significantly adds to their sugar intake during the day.

- Excellent Buy on the Almonds! Great way to stock up. Just watch portion sizes. Grab some snack baggies and pre-portion these into ¼ cup servings to prevent overeating. Also when you say every snack…how often each day are you having them? Have to be careful for while they are a great source of protein and healthy fats — these fats can very quickly add up and exceed your total daily intake of fats.

- Mighty Bites is a better version of many kid cereals. Just watch portion size on this. While 1 cup contains 110 calories, 5 g protein and 3 g of fiber — the second ingredient is still sugar — each 1 cup serving contains 23 carbs — 5 of which are sugars. So she is getting 1 teaspoon of sugar with each serving.

- Yes — any cereal that is Chocolate Filled would not be considered a supportive choice — sorry (and Special K is notorious for trying to say otherwise). Let’s see….just a ¾ cup serving has a whopping 20 grams of sugar. I would say this is a Once In Awhile Cereal treat.

- Glad the cookie mix is just for the neighbors — make and take away! Be careful with the chocolate chips though…this is where a taste here and there can really add up.

- Cheddar Bunnies — I get this for Tyler too — it is a once in a while snack — for while it is made with organic wheat flour — look at where the majority of calories and “stuff” going into the body is coming from….Fat and Salt. So this is just a replacement for a fruit or veggie. Use in moderation and it can fit into the nutrition plan for your girls.

- Brown Rice is a great, unprocessed, high fiber grain that can compliment your meals. Just watch portion sizes. ½ cup cooked is a little over 100 calories.

- Excellent protein sources — Fresh Chicken — buy in bulk and save money! Cook it all up at once or portion out, stick in ziplock, add a marinade, stick in fridge or freezer based on how quickly you will use it.

- With Ground Turkey — just be sure to choose the leanest type. Ground turkey can sometimes be made with skin and dark meat increasing the amount of fat.
Eggs

Love ALL the fresh produce you have brought home! Easy to grab, chop and toss into any meal or snack!

-	Cucumbers
-	Bell peppers
-	Jalapeño peppers – kick up your meals and your metabolism!
-	Pears
-	Strawberries
-	Tomatoes
-	Bananas
-	Grapes
-	Cilantro — great to have fresh herbs available — livens up meals!

Apple Juice — what is this used for? Who drinks it? How much? How often? Have you looked at the label? How many grams of sugar.

(TIP — 4.3 grams of sugar = 1 teaspoon of sugar)

- Which then brings me to Chocolate Milk. Now Tyler DOES have this once in a while — calls it his special milk — we buy Horizon. However keep in mind that chocolate adds sugar. Take a look at that label. How often are your girls drinking this? How much per serving? What does the label say? Many commercial chocolate milks have High Fructose Corn Syrup.

Excellent Strategy — Post Shopping Routine

Taking inventory of what you just brought home and what you can begin to cook and/or prep is a HUGE time saver!

You know you have many supportive strategies in place. Loads of quality proteins and fresh produce. Sure there are some foods that have been purchased:

where you would say….”I know this is not approved….”

(hot dogs, Pringles, store brand pancakes, Fruit Snacks, cheese crackers, chocolate cereal, chocolate milk..)

All areas of improvement and I hope I gave you some things to think about.

But there is one big question that I MUST ask is….

A lot of moms say….”this is not for me – its for my kids”

WHY?

And yes, Alison and I have talked at great length about this…but I think it is important for ALL moms to be aware of this habit we seem to have acquired.

Our children are more dependent upon us than ever to set the guidelines and the boundaries for what supportive nutrition is all about. It is VERY difficult for kids to make the switch …

1. If we are not taking care of ourselves and eating supportive foods

or

2. Even if we are modeling good habits it will still be hard IF the not so good foods are still there and readily available.

Supportive Substitutes

As far as ideas for what to use in place of the usual processed foods our children eat – hope you and all the Fit Yummy Mummy’s caught the video with Tyler…
7 Healthy Snack Ideas for Kids>>> HERE

Essentially all I am doing is using the create a meal menu planner in the Fit Yummy Mummy Handbook and giving Tyler options along with the freedom to create new snack combos.

You can do the same.

If this is a new transition and your children have been used to eating a certain way, plan ahead and expect it will be rocky – please know that typically things get worse before they get better.

What will make it EASY on everyone involved – be firm and stand your ground. Be sure to turn to the forums for ideas and support as you begin to carve out a new path for you, your children and your family!

So you know…this is your task for the weekend!

1. Plan out your meals for the week.

2. Take inventory – what do you have – what do you need – what do you need to toss>

3. Make a list – and stick TO this List

4. Shop!

You can get a jump start on it now by giving your kitchen a makeover : )

What is in there that you need to toss?

Are you buying foods that are healthy and supportive? Do you think you would know what is good for you, and what is not?

Well, listen to the deal I made. During a private coaching call with Holly Rigsby, creator of Fit Yummy Mummy, I said, “Man! I wish I could take you to the grocery store with me!”

Surprise! Holly offered to critique the foods that I bought at the grocery store for me. So, what I did was made a video of all the foods that I got at the grocery store. Holly is then going to take the video that I made and tell me what I need to stay away from, and then what I can get in place of the foods that I got. I think you will see me with a new grocery list soon!

So, here it goes….

Your kids nutrition is so important to the rest of their lives! Although we all know this very critical point, it seems to be a daily struggle. Making meals that are good for your kids nutrition can seem to be a wast of time because your kids simply will NOT eat it!

So, what can we do about it? I hate to tell you that this is not going to be east, at first! Your kids will fight you with everything they have, and use every trick they can think of to make you break!

Do NOT make them something else just so they will eat something! Not only is this sabotaging everything that you are trying to do for your kids nutrition, but it is teaching them that whatever behavior they are displaying WORKS on you!

Making them something else to eat can not be an option! Your children will NOT let themselves starve! They will eventually eat what you are making!

Every dinner that I make, I am surrounded by crying kids! Here is a video of my middle child while I am cooking, and then her during dinner. This is a very SMALL fit compared to the normal dinner fit.

We were having Chicken A L’Orange from the Elimination Diet. It was VERY good!!!

This can be very frustrating, and discouraging! But, remember that the main goal here is your kids nutrition!!! Do not lose site of that! If you provide them with healthy foods to eat now, they are more likely to stick with that for life! If you give them anything to eat now, just so they will eat something, guess what they will eat when they are older? You got it, ANYTHING!!!

That is not helping you, or your kids nutrition at all!!

Be strong, stand your ground! Remember, you are the parent! As long as you are putting good foods in front of them for every meal, they will eventually eat something!

Please share your stories, and things that have worked with your kids nutrition.

3 KEYS TO BODY TRANSFORMATION
—————————–

Recently I’ve talked a lot about change. Reason is, I see SO
many people on the verge of making big changes who, for a
number of reasons, miss the chance. And they end up hating
themselves for it. Literally.

The problem is that we’re all expected to be able to change
on a dime, in an instant — but we’re not really taught how
to do it.

I’ve spent years studying this phenomenon, because when I
started coaching, I quickly realized that it was as
important as the training and nutrition, if not more so.

It’s actually a lot simpler than it seems. Here’s what you
need to know — the 3 Keys to Body Transformation.

Are you drinking diet drinks thinking that this is a good choice for you? After all, it is better than regular, right? The question is, Is Diet Coke Making You Fat?

Today I got an e-mail from Isabel De Los Rios,Certified Nutritionist, on this topic. People always ask me, is diet Coke ok? I always tell them that it can’t be good to put something artificial into your body.

Well, Isabel agrees! She had a question just like this in one of her e-mails.

Here is the question:

“Isabel. It seems that there are no definite studies that prove, hands down, that artificial sweeteners can be hazardous to our health. Do you still recommend we stay away from them?”

Her answer to this is YES!

Here is the reason from her e-mail:

“More importantly, I would like to explain a little something about just about every health study out there. There are so many factors that we will never know about each and every study that is conducted. For example: Who funded the study? How were the results interpreted? What if the time frame used was too short? Too long? Was the scientist having a bad day? You get my point.

Yes, I do agree. There are so many studies that show artificial sweeteners not having any detrimental effects on health. But there are also many studies that show tumor growth, increased incidence of cancer, and liver damage in the specimens used.

Who is telling the truth? Or, better yet, who is right? We may never know. But do you know what is the one thing you can always rely on to tell you exactly what is right or wrong for you? Your body! When I personally gave up drinking diet coke and using artificial sweeteners in my tea and coffee, my stomach pains went away, I stopped feeling hungry all the time, I began to consistently lose weight and I no longer had such strong sweet cravings. I’ve had thousands of my readers and clients tell me the same. On the flip side of that, I’ve never, in all my years of experience, have had someone tell me they switched to artificial sweeteners and then no longer craved sweets or were less hungry. Nope. Never heard that. What can I say? I only call it like I see it.

For me, staying away from anything “artificial” just seems like the best choice for ME. Remember, as with any health advice, you always want to do what seems best for you and your health. If the sound of putting a man made chemical into your body seems like a bad thing to you, stay away from them. If you think your body seems to not be affected by a few chemicals every now and again, then go for it. All I am suggesting is that you keep yourself informed, educated and make choices based on what your body tells you and shows you is best for you.”

So, are you drinking a diet Coke right now? Do you still want to be drinking it?
